New York's new seaport public market, a non-profit organization whose mission is to establish a year-round, indoor public market where butchers, grocers, fish and cheese mongers, and other purveyors will help create and foster a sustainable* food system in the City of New York. You can donate, become a member, volunteer or become an advisor of the New Amsterdam Market , still in GGP's proposal stages, and will need government approval to move forward. *Sustainability - is an important goal and a complex term whose meaning continues to evolve. Yet its underlying premise remains simple: to produce what we consume without depleting natural resources, reducing or compromising biodiversity, or contaminating the soil, air, and water on which all life on earth depends.
