Weatherman...

While I don't typically see a forecast and feel 100% accuracy is to be expected, how about 10%? This past weekend it was supposed to be rain rain rain, thunderstorms, rain. Not so! Are the weather channels just completely pessimistic? How are we supposed to make plans? This summer has been semi-cold, very rainy and I'm looking forward to the 4th of July weekend with friends and family. The forecast. "Thunderstorms possible." A little sunshine please, I'm in need of a beach day and an outdoor bbq!

Pop-Up Bar in Bryant Park...

The Southwest Porch, on the southwest corner of Bryant Park just opened last week. This pop-up bar will be open Mon-Sat until September serving sandwiches and small plates of cheeses and charcuterie, and drinks. The sandwiches are themed to the cities they will be serving: meatball for New York, bratwurst for Chicago and soft-shell crab for Baltimore, as well as pulled pork. The restaurant is a cozy retreat that feels like a back yard lounge area with comfy porch swings and rocking chairs. Try the summer ale and check out Southwest Airlines new flight service out of LaGuardia!

The High Line...

The High Line is a mile-and-a-half-long elevated park, running through the West Side neighborhoods of the Meatpacking District, West Chelsea and Clinton/Hell's Kitchen. It was a collaboration designed by landscape architects James Corner Field Operations, with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, combining concrete pathways with lush greens. High Line is open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily.

The Surf Lodge...

I can't wait to jet out on the Jitney this weekend to the Surf Lodge in Montauk! The Surf Lodge is located on Fort Pond in Montauk, with the ocean and beach just a short half mile away. There are bicycles, surfboards, kayaks, and canoes to sport during the day if you're not beach lazing, and by night the outdoor lounge and restaurant are packed with locals and visitors. The rooms have a warm and surf-friendly vibe, all are outfitted with flatscreens, iPod docks, wi-fi, hammocks and balconies. Every weekend in the summer they have a concert series, outdoor cinema and art shows. Sounds like a slice of heaven.

Sprouted Kitchen...

Stumbling upon this blog was like landing in a beautiful landscape of food! Yep:)
The blog author, Sara exclaimes that she is a food loving, health craving, veggie fiend, who enjoys the culture of enjoying a meal with friends and family. Sprouted Kitchen is not only full of recipes to drool over, it's a blog about the adventure a couple - talented photographer Hugh to take photos, and Sara to learn more about cooking. She quotes the spanish proverb. "The belly rules the mind." found via Lake Jane
