Surf Camps...
I'm ready to ditch winter...Here is a round up of a few surf camps I posted awhile back.Safari Surf School - With two locations in Costa Rica - Nosara and Mal Pais Safari, you can't get better than the "Pura Vida" package. Transportation, luxury accomodations, Food, activities and all for 4-6 people at $14k.
Nancy Emerson School of Surfing - At Maui’s top surf camp, Nancy Emerson’s golden retriever, Apache, greets you. Located in Lahaina, a resort town on the west coast, the camp lasts five days. By the end of it, you’ll be reading reef breaks and hanging ten like a pro.
Paskowitz Surf Camp - The oldest wave-riding school in Southern California runs from mid-June to late August. The five-day sessions take place at Tourmaline Surfing Park, at the northern end of San Diego’s Pacific Beach.
Central Florida Surf School - Learn from Lou Maresca, who has operated Central Florida Surf School since 1993. Ask him to take you to Sebastian Inlet, just north of Vero Beach, for an easy session.
Billabong Surf Camps - In addition to offering hip surf-themed fibers, the surfing megabrand actually hosts some decent surf camps throughout the country, especially in the Northeast, where the camps stretch from New Jersey to Rhode Island. And, yes, goodie bags are included.

A few hours south of San Francisco is one of my favorite places on earth.Stay at the Post Ranch Inn or the Ventana Inn. If you can't swing the steap prices. Camp out for $25 dollars at Ventana and book message at the spa the best of both worlds!
Take hikes in the Pfiffer redwood forrest, picnic on the side of highway 1, eat dinner at Nepenthe. Stop at the Big Sur Bakery for breakfast. You won't want to leave...

The Tipsy Pig...
The name has kind of a charm;) The Tipsy Pig in SF opens on Chestnut street, with a great back patio, an antique wood bar, and american cuisine favorites like warm pretzels with smoked cheddar dip, pulled pork sliders, bacon mac ’n’ cheese, and fried chicken. Not to mention their yummy cocktails and local beers.

I Was Told There'd Be Cake...
I just finished Sloan Crosley's collection of essays in 'I was told there'd be cake'. She was genuinely witty while portraying familiar subjects in the twenty-something landscape, such as moving into a new walkup apartment in New York City, attending the wedding of every girl you knew in high school that you'd forgotten about, a semidysfunctional family, and a satanic first boss. I recommend and look forward to more of your stories!

Woodford & Co...

Brown Button turned me onto the Winter 2009 collection by Woodford & Co. I could see myself in many of their dresses! I love their poetic verse as well.
A winter weekend of country and class
Hazy mornings, fog slowly lifts.
Hazy mornings, fog slowly lifts.
Crisp smells of grass and blue air.
The sun shines yet the air bites.
Rugged up, worn in, flannel checks, and dustry denim.
What no country girl can live without.
As the trees dress down the days dress up.
Tartan and bow ties, a day on the field.
Shades of rose say dusk has arrived.
Suede silks and velvets into the night.
Another winter has come,
Another winter has come,
A Woodford winter.
Ikat Pillows...

Hooray for Katy Elliot, she led me to these fabulous ikat pillows for only $29. I can't wait to have a complete overhaul when I move in July and add colorful accents like these...

Grilled Cheese Please...

This Saturday in Dolores Park in SF, the 2nd Annual NorCal Regional Grilled Cheese Invitational kicks off. Taste testing various melty cheese sandwiches sounds right up my alley! Three categories were selected for the competition - The Missionary Position: Standard bread, standard butter and standard cheese. No additional ingredients or flavorings allowed. The Kama Sutra: Any kind of bread, any kind of butter, and any kind of cheese (or blend of cheeses) plus additional ingredients. The Honey Pot: Any kind of bread, any kind of butter, any kind of cheese (or blend of cheeses), and any additional ingredients, but a sandwich that is sweet in flavor, or would best be served as dessert.

I think I may even love this place more than San Diego. Big statement for moi!You can do quickie drives through Hollywood and Bel Air - the houses and potential star sitings can be exciting, but overall the areas are overrated. My favorite areas were Venice, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Westwood...perfect to stroll, dine, and lounge.
Breakfast or lunch at Urth Cafe or stroll the local farmer's market in Santa Monica.
Dinner at Lilly's or Primativo, Via Veneto, and Axe.

Bloodhound Bar...
SOMA's new addition, Bloodhound Bar is an SF wateringhole with an urban rustic hunting lodge vibe and a fun list of obscure drinks and draft beers! Play a few games of pool and load up the jukebox with old school favorites like Led Zepplin.
Guggenheim Expressionist Gallery...
This weekend if I'm not hitting the slopes - I may hit the ongoing exhibit at the Guggenheim; 'Kandinsky and Expressionist Painting before World War I'. The work of Post-Impressionists, such as Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse and the Fauves, and the Cubists in Paris, all informed the development of Expressionist art in the years immediately preceding World War I. Kandinsky, an artist who has been closely linked to the history of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and to whom this gallery is dedicated, became a leading theoretician on chromatic symbolism after arriving in Munich from his native Russia at the turn of the century.

The Music world is buzzing with speak of Bob Dylan spearheading an initiative to set some of country legend Hank Williams' "lost" lyrics to music. And Jack White of White Stripes is involved (who I love)! Also rumored to be collaborating are Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams and Alan Jackson. I can't wait till the release.
