Inspiration Board Siwy Denim...

I had to make a guest appearance on my own blog today, to share this amazing inspiration board by Michelle at Siwy Denim. I recently have gotten into collecting inspirational images during my online browsing sessions, not only for the wedding blog, but also for my admiration of fashion, art and photography. This one captures so many beautiful images. I hope you all have enjoyed the guest bloggers this week, they have gone above and beyond in posting great ideas! You are all in good hands till Monday. As the start to a new month, and new beginnings for me, I am excited for things to come on the blog front as well; inspiration boards, giveaways, more oustanding guest bloggers, interviews and more. Can't wait to share, have a lovely weekend. {image via apt #34}

Bedroom Makeover on a Budget...
Since the lovely Sarah is currently moving (hoping it is going well girlie!) I thought it would be fitting to post simple steps you can take towards giving your bedroom a complete makeover on a budget! While revamping your bedroom may seem like a daunting and expensive task, there really are some great ways to get a whole new look without breaking the bank! 1. Paint- A fresh coat of paint in any color will automatically give your entire room a facelift and leave you feeling excited and motivated to do more! Want a more tranquil feel? Go for colors in the realm of egg shell, beige, or taupe. Feel risky? Try vibrant colors in the blue and purple families. If you are really hesitant, just try one wall and make that your focal point in the room.
2. Bedding- Let's be honest here, nothing beats coming home after a long day at work or school and snuggling into your comfy bed! Changing up your bedding can alter the entire look of your room instantly. For a budget friendly choice, check out stores that carry beds-in-a-bag. For around $100 you will get everything you need without the hassle of having to match separates. Tip: For a really quick change, set out to buy a duvet cover that you can insert your old comforter into. No need to buy an expensive down comforter; you will not be able to see your old one once inside the duvet anyway!
3. Lighting- Whether you like to read in bed at night or not, a great bedside or corner lamp can add some much needed pizazz to your new room! Look for fun lamps with funky bases for some extra quirkiness!
4. Accessories- Pillows, blankets, mirrors, and pictures are all fabulous ideas to add to your newly revamped bedroom! Shop at places like Home Goods or your local flea market for these pieces, as some department stores charge big bucks for these items. Tip: If space is an issue in your room, look into buying furniture pieces that will store your items and can double as your vanity!
And there you have it! A completely new room with out having to eat top ramon for the next 6 months!

Vermont landscapes + Isabel Marant 2009...

...Something about these two just fit together; patchwork dresses and walls of green mountains. Paris chic may have been her intention, but her looks scream vintage Americana and free spirit to me---and isn't that what that state is all about? During a long drive through the VT countryside, just before the sky split open to rain, I pulled the car over to take pictures of some of my favorite spots. Looking at this first barn, the vibrant red immediately reminded me of Isabel Marant Spring '0. {images via Style.com, Isabel Marant Spring 2009 print campaign, Sugar shack, Backstage}Guest blog by Carey at Corks & Caftans

Farmstand Popsicles...
I'm so excited to be guest blogging today, I almost don't know where to start! Over at Corks & Caftans, I share the stage with my husband, Rob, who whips up wine reviews (I sip helpfully) while I bring up the rear with posts on almost everything else you can think of. I saw how quickly the summer was scooting by and realized it'd been far too long since I'd written up any delicious recipes, let alone cooked 'em.It's funny being a Southern ex-pat in the Northeast. You long for certain remnants of your humid past, but mostly you're totally occupied trying to jam in everything indigenous that you forget to be homesick. Last weekend, I got a honking spider bite on my neck and a farmer's tan and despite all that, for the first time since I left Ponte Vedra for a job 3 years ago, I thought: this feels like summer.
Being from Florida, my summers meant tans, bikinis, open-air beach bars, digging holes in the sand to keep the beers cold, and frankly, too many pairs of flip flops. Up here, it's canoeing on the Battenkill, hikes up the now-green ski mountains, going to the thoroughbred racetrack in August, and shopping for produce at local farm stands.
Now that's something we don't have down in FL: farm stands. [We have boiled peanut shacks on the way through the swamp and oranges, sure. Lots of them.] Which brings me to Dutton Farm Stand in Manchester, VT. We drove by and I saw a big stack of watermelons and I have had them on the brain ever since.
It's finally starting to feel like summer in Upstate New York. And summer for me means popsicles. I hope you love this recipe as much as we do. It's so healthy, fresh and delicious, and super easy to make. And no farm stands required.
Minted Watermelon Popsicles
1.5 lbs seedless watermelon w/out rind, cut in 1-inch dice (~4 cups)
2 Tbsp sugar
1/4 cup mint leaves, minced
2 tsp finely grated lemon zest
Pinch of salt
[8 servings]
In a blender, puree the watermelon with the sugar until smooth. Stir in the mint, lemon zest, and salt. Pour the puree into 8 popsicle molds or 2 standard ice cube trays (insert popsicle sticks halfway through freezing) and freeze until hard, about 3 hours.
Bonus: One serving is only 31 cal, 0 gm fat, 0 gm sat fat, 8 gm carb, 0.4 gm fiber.

Look of the Day...
I don't know if I'd ever be able to pull off wacky print Chuck Taylors with plaid trousers, but somehow she does. I'm so obsessed with bicycles lately, and she just looks so carefree and happy on hers! Like the minute she pushes off, you'll hear her laughing all the way down the street.p.s. Check out the bike's brand name. Genius! {image via Citizen Couture}

Amazing Hostess Gifts for $100 or less...
Coasters from John Derian
John Derian makes gorgeous decoupage, and they have coasters with everything from bees to shells to butterflies. Love.
$100/set
Handmade Lucite Trays from Iomoi
They’re bright and festive, and the best part is, you can add up to three lines of text or monogramming.
$100
A Book on Fashion Illustration
Just about everyone one loves chic fashion illustration prints, so why not buy a beautiful coffee table book on the subject? Try Drawing Fashion: The Art of Kenneth Paul Block by Susan Mulcahy, or Fashion Illustration by Fashion Designers by Laird Hamilton.
About $65, although prices vary.
Faux-Shagreen Pencils from Dransfield & Ross
Real shagreen can be crazy-expensive, but these are just as chic. Even better, they come in a variety of colors—orange, green, charcoal, and mushroom.
$26
A Magazine Subscription
Let’s face it, magazines could use new readers these days, and you can give a gift that keeps on giving year-round by ordering a subscription to one of your host’s favorite glossies. They run from about $12-$60, depending on what you order. You simply present the first issue wrapped in gorgeous paper, and explain they’ll keep on coming for the next 11 months! Some favorites: Elle Décor, The Week, and Women’s Health.
A Glass Pitcher from William Wayne
You can never have too many pitchers for Pimm’s and soda or a cool glass of lemonade, right? I love basically everything from William Wayne. If you’re not into the idea of a pitcher, you could always just check out their site for other ideas!
$75
A Bottle of Wine from Sherry-Lehman
Okay, admittedly wine isn’t the most creative gift, but when you’re staying with someone who loves to booze, bringing (or sending) a good bottle never hurts. When in doubt, I go with a Silver Oak or Stag’s Leap. (Disclaimer: I know next to nothing about wine!)
Jo Malone Candles
Decadent candles are something many people wouldn’t invest in for themselves, but they’d absolutely love to receive one as a gift. My favorite Jo Malone scent? Grapefruit, hands down.
$65
Flowers from Belle Fleur
If you flail on buying a hostess gift before your trip, Belle Fleur’s flowers are the perfect post-visit present. You can choose from a variety of color palettes and rest assured that they will never, ever send anything remotely cheesy.
$85 and up
A Personalized Letter Embosser from Fine Stationary
I have one of these, and I use it all the time. If you don’t know their exact address, try just the first letter of their last name.
$48-$60
Something for the Family Dog
If your host is a dog owner, you pretty much can’t go wrong with treats for the beloved household pet. My only advice would be to go organic, and don’t forget some cute wrapping! If you’re worried the pooch may have some sort of allergy, go with a needlepoint dog collar from Smathers & Branson.
$75

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Where I'd Like to Live...

I often think of my most ideal locale for a home. I LOVE NYC, but there are times I grow restless with being confined and wish I could live right on the water, kayaking every morning, making french pressed coffee at leisure, hosting dinner parties every night on the deck. Doesn't this spot look idealic. I found these images over at one of my favorite blogs; From the Right Bank to the Left Coast, source, Shelter. Where would you like to live?

They are made by Alexis in her cool funky art barn in San Diego, her style has always been one that I admired from her clothes to her home. You can buy the T's on Etsy;)
Tauk to Me...
If I were to have a store, it would be something like this...part modern surf shop, part indie home store, with funky fashion accessories, surf books and art and interior design services to boot! If you are taking a trip to Montauk anytime soon, stop by Tauk...or just idle at the goods on their site from afar.
