Song of the Day...

Ruffles and Polka Dots...

On the Road...

I'm on the road this week, Boston to Dallas to Park City. Holiday to work to play. I'm way behind in my hitting my quota for adventure in 2009 and know I need to step it up in the new year to come. I'd love to hop on the train (after a mini flight) and backpack my way through Europe and South America, any takers? {image via Cup of Jo}

Cozy Kitchen Table...

I love this casual in-kitchen dining set up, it's so charming and has a french country feel. {image via Dress Design Decor}

Dog-Friendly Entryways...

The simple details in these entryways are welcoming and stylish, not to mention furry creature friendly. {images via My Notting Hill and Country Living}

Indoor Beer Gardens and Frat Faves...

In the colder months people find themselves reliving their fraternity days in NYC. You can pledge one of these animal houses and drink beer while hanging with the post-college preppy hipster riff-raff, isn't that an oxi-moron?

Doghouse Saloon Get your beer pong on and play skee-ball in this LES dive.
Fat Cat Shuffle, chess, live music, pong and pool for games galore, with a 12 pack to boot.
Radegast Biergarten Brooklyn beer hall.
SuperDive Why not have a keg delivered to your table in a rolling kegerator?
The Standard Beer Garden Meat-packing district's fancy version complete with ping-pong.
Zum Schneider Bavarian indoor biergarten on Ave C and 7th.

Gobble Gobble...

Happy Thanksiving! Whether you are celebrating inside or out, I hope you all have a wonderful day. I'm looking forward to eating all of my favorite Thanksgiving treats; turkey, stuffing with sausage and pumpkin cake, mmmm. I'm so grateful for my wonderful family, amazing friends and am thankful for all of you who follow, Walking Around too;) {images via Country Living and unkown}

Tuckered Out...

This past few days I have been sick as a dog. Woof! I wish I looked this graceful when I am laid down to rest. {image via Under a Paper Moon}

Lodgey Living...

This living room space feels like a cozy hunting lodge in the mountains. Sign me up, I'd like to cozy up next to this fireplace. {image via Compulsively Compiled}

Turkey Day Tabletop...

I love the rich colorful flowers on a rustic farm table in silver vases. Nuts and veggies are a great addition to this fall inspired tabletop too. How are you celebrating Thanksgiving? {image via 100 Layer Cake}

Guest Post: Barrio Chino...

Guesting again at Walking Around is Anna B with another NYC restaurant roundup:
a
Girls night out last Monday. Table for two. Fresh squeezed grapefruit margarita, check. 8$ taco platters, check. LES charm crammed into an exposed brick, candelit dive, check!
s
Sarah and I set out to satisfy our weekly margarita cravings and happened upon a Lower East Side gem. Barrio Chino, on Orchard and Broome is everything that a dressed up taco joint should be. Elegant, simply prepared food. Fresh, inventive tequila drinks, and dressed down, seasoned servers. We started with a bowl of their homeade guacamole which was fresh, perfectly salted and had a hint of spicy lime. I moved on to the Camarones Borrachos-- shrimp cooked in tequila and mole sauce served with rice and beans, while Sarah sampled the taco platters (only 8$ for 3 tacos!). To top off our satisfying meal we ordered up 2 freshly squeezed grapefruit margaritas.The perfect cocktail for the perfect girls night out. xo Anna

Weeknight dinner with the girls in NYC or casual cocktail party. This time of year in NYC, I just want to dress up a pair of jeans and be comfy and stylish.

Foodies Underground...

Have you been eating up the underground dinner party craze, as foodie classes are popping up all over? Ever since Tante Marie's cooking class in SF in 2000, I have wanted to start up a rotating rave of dinner party events, mixing friends, seasonal fare and good times;) You may have heard me reference the San Francisco cooking club, 6 years now, it still continues to be a fave, I try to stop by whenever I visit the west coast. Stay tuned as we are working to make this happen in NYC, you don't have to be a chef, or a friend, but you might be when you leave. A few I follow and love are Sunday Suppers and Cook with James.

Weekend Casual...

Kicking around Saturdays and Sundays in NYC, casual jeans and sweaters, with great accesories can take you to brunch and maybe even last you through the night.

Casual Chic...

Since Jessica Biel declared her 'girl crush' on Jennifer Garner, I've wanted to share mine! It changes now and then, for instance, I'm contantly in awe of Diane Kruger's style, but there is something about Keri Russell, that is this attainable, yet untouchable natural beauty. She always looks effortlessly chic and casual. Her approachable warmth, makes me want to say, scoot over, I'll share that croissant with you and we'll talk about Scott Speedman and life in NYC. {image via instyle}

Swedish Crib...

When I saw this large lofty dream crib in Sweden, I had envy. I love the funky decor that feels casual and edgy. {images via casa sugar}
