Two surf buddies from Laguna Beach started an 'art driven' clothing line concept in 2002 and are still creating, in my opinion, one of the best collections of surf t-shirts anywhere. What better place to spawn than Southern California, where surf culture was first popularized in the 60s.
The Ryde, conceived by Mike Figueroa and Matt Allen set out to create a brand built around engaging, artistic designs. They describe their clothing as...'an outward expression of the way they view the world around them.' The Ryde's clothing caters to good-humored, laid-back individuals, aka: The surf culture.
Surf culture: by loose definition is a harmony with life, and the ocean. In a Rolling Stones magazine interview, Pearl Jam's lead singer, Eddie Vedder said, 'surfing is kind of my religion'.
It kind of makes you want to kick back in So Cal.
