Tea Time...

Fancy a cup of tea? Lately I have traded the few cups of coffee I would have a week - for tea. It's easy to get in the habit, but I kicked it quick. Now on occassion I have a latte on the weekend, but for moi, it's tea time. {images via Lola Lina, Rose Tea Cottage, Wide Open Spaces}

Where the Wild Things Are...

An adaptation of Maurice Sendak's classic children's story, 'Where the Wild Things Are' comes to life on screen to tell the tale of Max, a little boy who creates his own world in a forest inhabited by wild creatures that him as their ruler. I'm dying to see it, with Spike Jonze directing it's bound to be magical and sharp. It's inspired fashion lookbooks to get daringly wild. Let the wild rumpus begin!

Nadinoo

A couple things from the lookbook of Nadinoo, a playful collection of clothing, handmade by the talented British designer Nadia Izruna.

Salty Chocolate Chip Cookies...

Ever since I had a rock salt chocolate covered caramel from Fran's, I was hooked on this combo, sweet & salty. I found this recipe and had to share. Delish.

BEST-EVER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES with SEA SALT:
Preheat the oven to 375.
Grease or line 2 cookie sheets.
Whisk together: 1 cup plus 3 Tbs all-purpose flour1/2 tsp baking soda
Beat in a large bowl until well-blended: 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened1/2 cup sugar1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
Add and beat until well combined:1 large organic egg1/4 tsp fine salt + 1/4 tsp fancy sea salt1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Stir in the flour mixture until well-blended and smooth. Stir in 1 cup chocolate chips.Drop the dough by heaping teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on the cookie sheets and sprinkle a few course sea salt crystals on top. Bake, 1 sheet at a time, until the cookies are just slightly golden on top and the edges are brown, about 8 - 10 minutes. Let stand briefly, then remove to a rack to cool. {Recipe via Lily at bigBANG Studio found via La Petite Choue}

L.L. Bean Signature Collection...

L.L. Bean is back and showing off the Spring 2010 collection designed by Alex Carleton. Brights, neutrals and preppy plaids, it's fashion that you can see wearing to clambakes and cookouts in New England.

Juicy in England...

Gela Nash Taylor, co-creative director of Juicy Couture, has an English country hideway that looks like a dream. Donned South Wraxall Manor, it's her home away from California Juicy headquarters, that is formal and romantic. Reading the story in last month's Vogue makes you want to jump into this manor immediately. In fact, I'm pretty sure Gela and I were switched at birth, because I could definitely see myself the head of a fashion empire and married to the bass player for Duran Duran, having elaborate dinner parties and suited in designer gowns on the cricket lawn. The closest I came was galavanting in the guest home and maze of Anne Bolelyn's Castle in Kent with my then British boyfriend's mates, singing many Robbie Williams songs, terribly. Maybe in the next life;)

The Breslin...

The new tavern-style eatery/sister of Spotted Pig has opened in the ACE Hotel on West 29th Street. The Breslin, who's name is an ode to the original identity of the 12-story building, which was completed in 1904, will be run by Ken Friedman and chef April Bloomfield with more of a pan-European cuisine and emphasis on meat dishes.

Mad for Plaid...

I am loving black and red plaids lately. This is a trend that never lasts, but when plaids are back, I'm excited to revisit the more chic translation of the flannel era. {images via Dress Design Decor, Isabel Marant, Good Housekeeping, unknown}

Animal Print Rugs...

Feeling a little wild in the home...I love these rooms that have a the animal print accent. {images via Alice B Design, Elle Decor, My Favorite and My Best, Haven & Home}

Far Hills Races Trifecta...

My third year in a row trekking out to The Hunt in Far Hills, NJ. It was muddy, but the rain held off for tailgating, and it remains one of my favorite days of the year! It's like an ad campaign for Hunter Boots and Barbour jackets. Can't wait till 2010.
