Work Break...

When work has you tangled up - how do you release? I've started thinking about taking up yoga, not only stress, but my back issues as of late might benefit from breathing, stretching and taking some time to meditate. I feel like I could work all day, all night, all weekend...it's actually very hard to 'turn off' - especially when I have so many creative projects I like to work on like the blog, painting, etc. I feel like drafting up a schedule for myself that I must follow! Thoughts?

Yoga for sure. Just evaluated by my doctor yesterday re: potential long-term back issues. He was impressed with my flexibility and strength. He said to keep doing Yoga. I intend to. I'm 62 years old and began Yoga about 23 years ago--usually 2 or 3 times a week.

Plus, Yoga practice clears your head and gives you PMA and euphoria...

I'm so right with you. I definitely need to do something. My physical therapist told me I need to do pilates but the pilates is so expensive. I think yoga is a terrific idea.

Whether it's yoga, running or taking a barre class, working out is definitely my release. It is much easier to prioritize and tackle everything afterward!

P.S. Seems like we have similar schedules - now if only we lived in the same city and could grab drinks to commiserate ;)

I've been doing barre lately and while it stresses me out trying to make time for each class, they help me de-stress and feel happier. Try some yoga- it'll be the answer!

I can't recommend yoga enough; especially if you're having trouble "turning off". the time on your mat is therapeutic in a physical and mental way and I've noticed it has help filter into many aspects of my life. I encourage you to try a few studios and see what fits; you'll likely find a teacher/class/type of yoga that speaks to you. Good luck!!

I seriously need to write out time for relaxing in my day. And I feel like I keep getting busier and busier.

I LOVE yoga! It's the best to help relieve stress. Be sure to try hot yoga too! It's incredible!

ladies, i'm so so happy with all of the responses - thanks for taking the time to share your stress relievers. Yoga is the popular vote. The benefits seem endless. It's funny that I have never particularly gotten into it - I will report back with my experience.

Also love the idea of no technology at night - it isn't conducive to turning off!
