I want to see this indie movie with John Krasinski. The screenplay comes from acclaimed writer, Dave Eggers (author of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius) and his wife Vendela Vida. The song in the trailer is the beautiful lyrics and melody by Alexi Murdoch, All of My Days.

On a perfect sunny morning in New York, I turned on the tv before work to find, Breakfast at Tiffany's. Such an amazing film, each time I see it I notice new details of the scenery and am amazed how far two black dresses take the lovely Holly Golightly... Also, here is a clipping from a 2005 Tiffany & Co. ad that is a wonderful message.

Apple Betty Me...
6 Granny Smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced (¼-inch)½ T ground cinnamon
¾ T granulated sugar
2¼ C all-purpose flour
2¼ C dark brown sugar
4/5 of a stick unsalted butter, melted
Toss apple slices in sugar and cinnamon. Mix flour and brown sugar on low speed with a mixer. Slowly add butter to flour and brown sugar and mix until you get a sand-like consistency. Butter and flour bottom and sides of 9-by-9 baking dish. Pour ¼-inch layer of flour/sugar/butter crumble into dish. Add a single layer of apples. Gently: Don’t press down. Continue layering: ¼-inch of crumble, then apples. Finish with a layer of crumble. Cover with foil. Bake at 350° for 90 minutes. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream. Thanks DC.
Vero...
Went to Vero last week on the UES last week...LOVED! Prosciutto, Spiced Fig and Taleggio taleggio cheese stuffed fig, wrapped in prosciutto with balsamic glaze and, extra virgin olive oil...yum, pineapple infused champagne, yuuuum. Thanks to the manager Chelsea, we tried a few things we hadn't even thought of, and she kicked off the night with great tunes from our very own ipod.

You're Welcome America...
Ferrell developed his Bush impression during his stint on Saturday Night Live and took it to the stage in his recent debut of You're Welcome America: A Final Night with George Bush. It was a hilarious and very un-PC performance where Ferrell captured "Dubya".

Summer Share...
Last year 12 friends shacked up in Newport, RI in a 9 bedroom home with a porch facing the rising sun over the Cliff Walk. Every morning waking up on the water was heaven! It will be difficult to find a place this year that measures up, but suddenly we're thinking...how about a pool? Who doesn't want to wake up every morning and do a graceful cannonball into a refreshingly chilly pool? Not to mention lounge for hours on a floaty. Yes please!

A friend gave this book to me in high school and I adored it, it is on the top of my stack of 'feel good books' - that I revisit often...Hope for the Flowers cover says - "A tale - partly about life, partly about revolution, and lots about hope. For adults and others (including caterpillars who can read).

Karaoke...
I love karaoke. There I said it...I'm not sure when I first admited to this fact, but the people who know me well - have seen me take over the stage with such favorites as Total Eclipse of the Heart, Read My Mind, Livin' on a Prayer, Like a Prayer and Eye of the Tiger. It's all deadly. I love this scene from My best Friend's Wedding, because even when you're terrible, you're a crowd pleaser.

Eco-Bounty...
My favorite site, Trend Watching sent out the March newsletter highlighting 12 eco sub-trends. “ECO-BOUNTY refers to the numerous opportunities, both short and long term, for brands that participate in the epic quest for a sustainable society. Cooking Club...
For 5 years a few of my girlfriends and I in San Francisco had a monthly tradition. Since we all loved to cook, we started the SF Cooking Club. Each month we would switch hosts and the hostess would pick a theme/cuisine. Each guest brings a side dish, salad or dessert & bottle of wine. This was not only one of my favorite things to do, but is also recession friendly. We (in theory) would exchange the recipes afterwards, although I still think I'm delinquent on a few;) It's time to start it up in NYC.

One of my favorite west coast road trips was dashing off to Portland. Breweries, windsurfing in the summer, snowshoeing up Mt. Clean Coal is a Lie...
The Waterkeepers Alliance unveiled their site last week, Dirty Lie - exposing the truths about the destructiveness of coal and it's entire life cycle—from mining to transportation to scrubbing to burning to waste storage. After reading, if you had previously bought into the $40M 'clean coal' campaign, you will quickly be disuaded of that oximoron and realize that everything about the use of coal is inherently dirty. The truth is that coal pollutes our water, communities, forests and mountains, kills wildlife and contributes to climate change, in addition to poisoning our drinking water and our fish with mercury and other toxins.

Blogger Alkemie admires San Francisco interior designer Jay Jeffers, and I have to chime in to agree! I use to work for Jay in SF years ago. He had an incredible style and from what I have seen of his recent projects - has only become more creative and amazing.
