Guest Post: Fall Loves from Happenstance...

So excited to have Haydee here from Happenstance sharing her Fall faves, she has one of my all time favorite blogs.

Cozy T-Shirts: I'm a t-shirt kind of girl so when fall comes 'round I love to pair a simple tee with fun jewelry, scarves and sweaters.

Delectable Desserts: Along with fall come the holiday soiree's and fun desserts! I recently had these from Früute … so good!

Fun Statement Jewelry: I'm not a huge jewelry person but when I find a good statement piece like this one from Elva Fields I usually go for it.

Organic Gloss: Since I'm sure I'll be on the go quite a bit this fall I like to have my gloss on hand. Especially one that is natural and paraben-free like this one by Josie Maran.

Movie Nights: Is there anything better than cozying up on the couch with a throw and watching a great movie?

Ankle Boots: Fall definitely calls for some cute, “the more worn they get, the better they look” ankle boots.

Colored Jeans: I'm definitely in the mood this fall to partake in the colored jeans movement. Especially since I wear a lot of gray these will add the perfect pop to my outfits.

A Few Things...

Tented luxury...looks cozy and romantic.

Pucker up!

Sometimes on the 'not so sunny' days, it's great to remember not to sweat the small stuff.

Simply casual and chic.

Fall nail color...next up, shades of evergreen or cabernet?

I want to go apple picking, drink apple cider, bake apple pie...mmmm.

Corduroy like waves, looks so inviting.

Long narrow space, done beautifully.

Footloose & fancy free...

Champagne anyone? It is afterall, Hump day...

Too Cute...

Had a little laugh about this when I saw...let it be known that I may have a knack for doing an impression of Kip from Napoleon Dynamite now and then;) I'm not saying it's good, but it cracks me up every time. What a cute halloween costume. {image via bippity boppity boo

Someday...

I would like to have a beautiful pool in the backyard with a cozy outdoor tented deck setting, fireplace and all. Doesn't this look like the most heavenly place to sit and relax. Not to mention inviting people over for a few cocktails in this little oasis would be a perfect evening! {image via Greige}

Let the Week Begin...

Ummm, where did September go? My oh my, time flies! I am so lucky to have had a mini-vaca for the last September weekend. It was a perfect: jet off to Vegas with the boyfriend and another couple for pooltime, dinners and sun. It is the ultimate people watching there...and all and all we had a very relaxing time, which sounds ironic for infamous Vegas, but it's true! It was great way to end my birthday celebration week (thanks again bf for fun dinners, endless laughs in Sin City and the sweetest card a girl could hope for). Now I'm headed into whirlwinds of meetings and more meetings this next few weeks!!! In the midst of it all I'm scoping fall fashion trends, more recipes of everything I can think of to cook up in the cozy kitchen this season and things to do in Chicago for the blog. Have a great week! {image via luella & june}

Say Cheese...

One thing I could not live without...cheese! I would be extremely bummed if I was lactose intolerant, because I think cheese makes everything better. Here are a few recipes to drool over.

Stuffed Cheese bread with Herbs
Roasted Tomato Soup w/Broiled Cheddar
Baked Fontina
Gourmet Mac + Cheese

Special Day...

It's official, today is my bday;) Time to get up, and treat myself to a pumpkin latte, head to meetings, talk to friends and sit back for a post work mani/pedi. Always so fun to look back at where we were the year(s) before as you approach turning a year older. It goes by very very quickly...especially this past year, my adventure to Chicago, an unexpected landing spot that has become my home. Going for din din with the bf tonight (location unknown;). We'll be pretty low key so we can save up for our fun weekend ahead. I'm a lucky girl and I don't feel a day over 27!

A special shout/out & thank you to one of my greatest friends from childhood, Sue, for always inspiring with great cooking recipes daily and posting this one for me today ~ Ginger Snaps, mmmm.

Fall Trend: Packing the Basics...

There is no better time (in my opinion) to visit NYC than the fall. It's beautiful, crisp, not-too-warm, not-too-cold, perfect strolling weather for uptown shopping and downtown dining. I miss the city that never sleeps...it's been close to a year since I moved to Chicago from NY...(coming up in November) and I have yet to revisit my old home. If I was skipping off to the city this weekend, here are a few things I would pack.

Asos draped one-shoulder dress
J.Crew fitted jeans in 'honeyboy'
Michael Kors Taupe Bootie
Jil Sander Knee High Boots
J.Crew Calf hair/wool stretch Skirt
Leather & Wool Jacket
Rag & Bone Canvas Booties
Malene Berger Ruffled Blouse
See by Chloe Purse
J.Crew Ice Cube Bracelet

A Few Things...

This library has taken over a dining space...brilliant.

Stop and take it in.

Gold vintage typewriter...crushing on this.

Python meets wild tiger street style.

Apple cake heaven.

Wavy hair perfection.

Caffeine crazed on a Monday morning.

Styled with jewels.

Hope you all enjoyed the weekend! I got to head out to the burbs and hang out with the bf's family which was lovely. Then tons of football and a lazy Sunday afternoon. Today is the last day to enter the Tibi giveaway. And tomorrow I'll be celebrating the big 3-5. Woohoo. Have a great Monday. xo {image via pinterest}

Guest Post: Fall Loves from Note to Self...

Hi everyone! I'm Sarah, visiting from Note to Self. As a total sentimentalist, I get rather giddy and nostalgic when the seasons begging to change. Autumn is no exception - the leaves, the smells, the food, the costume parties! Oh my... But without further ado, here are the top five things I'm really "Falling For" right now...
1. Revisiting old favorites: as the days grow shorter and the nights longer, you can't go wrong snuggling up to an old favorite. In my queue: Meet Me In St. Louis, You've Got Mail, and Little Women (this version, too.)
2. New comfort foods: Whenever fall rolls around, it's fun to pay extra attention to food blogs and seek out some new comfort food recipes to try. This "tomato cobbler" on Honey & Jam caught my eye right away. Yum!
3. Touches of tartan: Can you go wrong adding some of this classic print to your home or wardrobe? I don't think so. Here in Savannah, Georgia, we can't wear anything wool so soon in the year, but just the look of it in a napkin or table cloth can get us in the fall spirit. Worth reading: this Martha Stewart LIving post on the subject, or a classic book, Tartan: Romancing the Plaid (Amazon, from $59).
4. Penny loafers: These certified classics are everywhere this fall. I say add these to a pair of rolled jeans, café capris, or a cute dress as an alternative to ballet flats. I've been eying this Bass pair for a while now. Time to take the plunge?
5. Gallery walls: They are the excuse we all needed to keep the little things we love close at hand, right? Over the summer, I began the process of curating some keepsakes: prints, vintage scarves, ticket stubs and shopping bags (yes, shopping bags) to frame on a gallery wall. Bring on the hammers and nails! (DIY tip: unroll some butcher paper on the floor, layout and outline your frames, and use the paper as a headache-free guide for nails on the wall.)
Well, I hope you enjoyed these tid-bits. Don't be a stranger now.
Many thanks for having me over, Sarah!
xo,
(another) Sarah

Champagne Wishes...

Hitting the town this weekend for Danielle's birthday, it's a casual dinner followed by drinks. I think I'll opt for the leather option, but next week when we paint Vegas red, I'll be wearing sequins!

I love a little champagne toast, for my birthday wish I am toasting to a great 35th year...yep, there I said it, that is my age (in exactly 6 days).
